Ok, so I'm taking the rest of the day off. I've worked hard enough today and none of my clients are squealing so tomorrow is soon enough.

The Mariners are not losing. It's only the 4th so they have plenty of time but any innings when your team has more runs that the Yankees is a good inning. After the Mariner game, I'm planning on watching me some junk TV. Whew.

When it isn't scheduled to record other stuff, TiVo records what it thinks I will like based on what I've told it and what I've recorded. I went to set it to record Rabbit Proof Fence that [livejournal.com profile] letmesaythis recommended and TiVo had already gotten it for me. Isn't that nice?

I'm broiling a pork chop and baking some cheese rice for dinner. It smells good. And that's my day... and now for another episode of:

Since my memory for important things sucks, it is fortunate that we moved around a lot. I can remember what house we lived in when certain things happen so I can pretty much pin point dates. Sometime between the time I was 6 and 14, Winston-Salem (North Carolina) took a giant leap forward. During one of those years - I'm thinking probably 1959/60, they finished I-40 going right through town and they finished the first shopping center. The I-40 thing was big because that was the beginning of a nice big highway, finally, for our at least annual drive from North Carolina to Oklahoma to visit relatives. Before I-40 it was 2 lane roads through Alabama in the middle of Summer with no air conditioning in the car.

The shopping center was big, too. I remember Mom explaining that finally, finally, finally she had a place where, if she needed a quick spool of thread, she could dash out and get one in her Bermuda shorts. Before the shopping center, she had to put on stocking and a dress to go downtown. Shopping in Bermuda shorts? Freedom, baby!!

It was the malls vs downtown that changed the shopping dress code?? Fascinating. I've never known that.
