Last night's HOA meeting was enlightening. The woman who raised such holy hell about being kept in the dark about finances before she was on the board, suggested several times that they hold off informing the residents on a couple of issues. "People will just ask questions." The two board members who seem to possess more than a handful of brain cells were mostly silent. Another good HOA year. Sigh.
I did learn (but other residents will not because they will ask questions), that starting Monday they will be repaving the street that our garages empty on to. Tija, who works hard on projects throughout the neighborhood and lives upstairs, got wind of the deal from the folks at the football stadium. The state, doing the work, apparently didn't think we needed to know. And we might not.
The project will take through the end of May and a week in June. It's not like the road does not need it. It's always been treated as kind of an alleyway and is now a group of potholes laced together with bits of asphalt. Plus, since the city does not give a shit, vendors are not confined to the side of the road and their tents - even when not in use - litter almost to the middle. Clean up is long overdue. It will be a bitch, tho, for the next couple of months.
They are cleaning this up now because of the MLB All Star game. The alley is one of the main roads into the baseball stadium and they wanna make it purty. Tija also mentioned a huge push to fix a bunch of stuff and make it all 'world class' for the FIFA World Cup (in the football stadium also on the same alley) coming in 2026 so I suspect this is just the first of three years of stuff.
Tonight I am going to a Mariners game. Well, this afternoon really. I'll be leaving here about 4:30. I need to figure out some layered clothing that I can strip off. The weather for the last game was cold and so they turned on the heaters which are right over my seat. In a few innings my whole row felt like broasted chickens. My layers were not easily stripable. I need to fix that for tonight's game as I suspect a re-occurance. 45 degrees at kick off and it goes downhill from there.
Today will be working on my knitting project. The test knit. I am in the home stretch. And I'd really like to get it finished.
So that's the plans du jour.

Date: 2023-04-19 03:03 pm (UTC)(We had been hoping for a nice short game, given the new rules and all – we had been teased by Sunday's game, which came it at just under two hours – especially since it's still April and it was rather chilly at the ballpark; but the Sox's repeated failure to capitalize on excellent scoring chances prolonged it. Still, 3:07 for a 10-inning game is pretty good.)
