I got up too early. I woke up early and lay there for about an hour and finally got up. A rare occurrence these days but no harm/no fowl[sic].

This morning I have a phone call with the law firm working on my will, etc. It's a pre-sign info call. They set up a time for me to physically meet them to sign papers but, the intent is to make that a true sign and dash. Any questions, concerns, etc. are to be handled in this pre-sign phone call. I kind of get the impression that they line up the conference room and witnesses and then run through clients like me sign and go, next! sign and go, next! Works for me. The signing isn't for a couple of weeks.

I don't have any questions about my own papers but I do plan to ask about SteveTheLawyer.

My cousin died one year ago today. He left his estate to a trust drawn up by SteveTheLawyer. The proceeds of that trust go to me (2/3rds) and my cousin's friend, SamTheFriend (1/3rd). Steve bust out of the gate with constant phone calls and emails asking how we wanted this handled and how we wanted that handles. He generally ignored our answers but kept pestering us with questions. He sold the house and the truck. He made plans to sell other stuff. He doled out about half the inheritance and that took us up to December and then he stalled. He ignored our emails and questions or responded with non answers.

Finally, in February, he sent a whiny note saying he was working as fast as he could and we should just leave him alone. Sending us updates was costing us money. He'd have most everything settled "long before June" and would let us know.

And... that's the last we heard from the dude. SamTheFriend sent him a request for an update two weeks ago and then this week. I echo'd Sam with my own email. Crickets.

I'm not sure what to do about it. SamTheFriend wants the money now! but is at a loss how to get it. I'm ok with waiting but I want to support Sam and I don't want to get had by SteveTheLawyer. I resent his attitude and his silence.

There are differences from state to state in the laws/rules behind these things but I just want to hear from any legal anyone some advice on what to do if anything. Or even if doing nothing and waiting more is the best course.

So I'll ask the person who calls me today.

And then it's on to the grocery. I'm out of bread and produce and needs some meals.

Yesterday I put a bunch of cat toys away. In this ottoman. I pulled out the fish and a couple of other toys that amused them for a while but then, Julio decided he wanted the stuff in the ottoman and he tried so hard and so long to get in there. This went on for a good 30-45 mins.

This old cat bed was out on the terrace. I brought it in and ran it through the washer and dryer and then replaced the afghan on the chair with it. Biggie spent most of yesterday afternoon and evening in it. But, this morning, he's in my lap so the bed got a new occupant.

Life with these two is never dull.
