Buckle up - lots to say
Jun. 13th, 2023 08:56 amI ordered a shirt from ebay. The seller sent it super quickly via USPS. It was set to be delivered yesterday. USPS sent my email saying it was coming along with two pieces of other mail (regular envelopes). Then last night, a check of the tracking number gets "Your item was picked up at a postal facility at 8:40 pm on June 12, 2023 in SEATTLE, WA 98134."
1. I was at the game at 8:40 pm. 2. The post office at 98134 closes at 5:30 pm. 3. WTF???
Oh and the two other pieces of mail didn't arrive either BUT there were a few packages sent via USPS that were lying in the lobby near the mail boxes.
So today's project is to try and catch the mail carrier and see if she can answer number 3 above. She was clearly off duty yesterday so hopefully, will be back today. I have two other packages scheduled to be delivered today so I should get a ping when she gets here.
Last night's game was full of interesting.
First and foremost, we beat the pants off Miami which, especially in light of our recent games, was such a great relief.
A lot of my favorites from the staff were on duty and refreshed since the team had been on the road. Dinner was delish as per uge. My seat was in a different spot since I bought the ticket as a one off. My seat number was this large dude with a large (transparent, of course) backpack. He was one of those wheeler/dealer know it all flirt with every female server types who's zoom background is likely the same cigar smoking poker backroom that those dogs play in. We took several innings to get to truce level. But, we got there and got quite chatty.
The first thing I learned is that his account rep is Mike. Mike is my old account rep who got promoted and who I miss so dearly. I was shocked to hear that Mike still has individual customers! And I expressed my shock and Wayne said he'd see if he could get me back on Mike's team. He opened up his phone and dictated a text to Mike telling him.
Turns out, Wayne has a bunch of Mariner tickets in various spots around the stadium. I did not get the full picture of his 'deal' but it was pretty hilarious to watch unfold. "Oh, There's Trevor! Do you know Trevor? Trevor, come over here and meet Susan!!" Trevor turns out to be Trevor Goodby who is the Senior Vice President, Ballpark Events & Operations. He then went on to interview me - what did I love about the Press Club, not like about the Diamond Club, etc. And told some fun anecdotes. As a foul ball came zinning by about 4 seats down, he talked about the architect who said the 9 foot extension to the net behind home plate would guarantee that NO foul balls would ever get to the Press Club. He said that the first ball hit this season went right into Section 7 of the Press Club.
He was fun and lively to talk to and acknowledged our requests (better speakers, some TVs we can see from our seats and ice cream please).
But, then... something came up about the parking garage and he asked me if I'd ever been to the top floor and I said I live down the street so don't use the parking garage. I get free VIP parking with my ticket that i never use. When I first got Mariner tickets, they offered the ability to sell the parking bit and I made some nice coin but then they stopped that. Would I be interested in selling him all my parking spots for the rest of the season for $20 each?? Fuck yeah!
So this morning, we connected via Venmo and he sent me $240 for my parking passes. Win win win.
It was definitely a different and interesting game evening.
And tonight I have another one! It's one of the Mariners' two Pride nights and I'm going with Frank. It should be great fun.
After the mail carrier gets here, I think I'm going over to Goodwill. I need a new vacuum tumbler and I can't find what I want on Amazon and I know Goodill has a truckload of different kinds.
Now it is late and I need to send Wayne his parking.
