Every morning, first thing, I check Fitbit to see if I made it through the night.

Good to go today!

I am not a stickler for quality literature. Gimme a good thriller and I'm happy. I want genuine characters and a decent credible story, though. And I want very few, if any grammatical errors. Oh and, since I 'read' via audio, I want the narrator to be good. So, maybe I have a few boxes to tick.

Plus, I've got no qualms about abandoning a book that does not cut it. Audible has a fairly liberal return policy and I've stretched that to the limit more than once.

All of which is to say my current book is breaking all my rules. Take Off by Joseph Reid is not very well written. The plot already has a gaping hole. The reader is meh at best and, yet, for reasons I cannot define, I am hooked. It's the first in a series so it remains to be seen if I'll go to the next one.

For years and years now I have had a cist on my head. It's very near the top of my head and has been big and small. It's generally tender to the touch and sometimes very much so. Combing or brushing my hair without hitting it has always been an issue. A couple of decades ago, I had it removed. Once the numbing agent wore off, it was incredibly painful for days. And... then it grew back. Buggers.

But, so very oddly, now in my 74th year, it's all but disappeared. So weird. It's strange to brush my hair or wash it without feeling the familiar stab of pain. I know at least one person who often reads my journal has the same thing. She's quite a bit younger but at least I can offer her hope someday!

The Mariner game starts at 10 this morning. I do love east coast day games.

I have a UPS package that the UPS website says will be delivered today. I saw UPS deliver yesterday. I thought it was weird to see them here on a Saturday, but Sunday?? So far it's not showing that it's out for delivery. I'm thinking it's just confused and will be here tomorrow.

I started watching Harrow last night on Hulu. It's an Australian series about a crime solving pathologist. It's not amazing but it's fairly satisfying. 3 seasons. I'm in.

From the other night. Julio, who hates people, sometimes doesn't.

I've never gotten breathing rate and heart rate variability to work. I assume that yours just started working one day.

Julio amuses me.

Sometimes I think we can be caught up by a character or something that makes a not great book a fun thing to read.

I rarely do audiobooks these days. I really like them in the car when I'm traveling alone, but I haven't been doing that much in recent years.

But I read all kinds of things on my Kindle that I would never buy otherwise. I'm having a great time right now with a science fiction story that unexpectedly turned out to be very good, so I'm reading the other books in the series.

I get the occasional cyst, though never painful. They seem to last for years but fade in the end, except maybe discoloration remains. My doctor offered a removal but didn't seem to think it much mattered either way so I didn't try it.
