The food was mostly good at the game. I ate too much. The dude sitting in front of me had ants in his pants and could not sit down and kept blocking my view. There were way too many kids around and way too few parents who gave a shit what their kids were doing.

But none of that was the bad part. The game started off fine. 4 to 0 and the 4 was ours. But they creeped up and up until the 6th inning when they tied it and then in the 8th - a dastardly combo of our horrible defense and their brilliant offense gave them 8 runs and then 3 more in the 9th, when we tossed in a position player to pitch. It was a fucking clown car of a game but not funny.

And, to add to it, the Mariner fans did not take this in their stride. Bad playing on the field, even with the Mariners who have done it for years, leads to really offensive behavior in the stands, even when you are sitting in the premium seats.

The only thing that saved it was the fireworks show. Most of the idiots left in disgust before the show started. It was billed as a Patriotic Fire Works but it turned out to be a fine one. They played Ray Charles' America in the middle of the show but the rest was just good, upbeat music with lovely fireworks. And they ended with a Sousa march which is fine by me. I love Sousa and marches. So at least the evening did not end on a suicidal note.

But it was still soooo dismal. Ugh. I am so glad I am not going back today. Except the game on TV is on Fox which would be ok except the broadcaster I hate is doing the fox game. UGH. I will be watching with the sound off.

And I might not be doing much of anything else. Well, I might do some laundry.

My next few weeks are pretty full.

Tomorrow I have a Mariner game ticket (hopefully, I'll be healed by then). Tuesday from friends from New Zealand arrive for the first leg. They leave on Saturday for Alaska. Wednesday or Thursday we're heading up north to the outlet mall. It's a lame mall but it will be fun for them. I have not been in 100 years and they found it on Google and asked if we could go. SURE!!!

While they are in Alaska, the All Star Game will be consuming everything around here. I'm making zero plans - just going with the flow. Except, I do need to make a grocery run somehow. Restaurants around here will be packed. Deliverers will likely not be able to get here easily. And by then my freezer will be emptied.

Then my friends come back from Alaska and stay for a week and then [personal profile] jwg and [personal profile] rsc come to town.

FUN!!

I expect Saturday's game was rather more fun, with or without sound.
