This is pretty much all [personal profile] solteronita's fault. When I bought my washer/dryer, I was looking for the most simple choice available. No bells, no whistles, just wash and dry. It was ok. But, turns out, I really like bells and whistles and have very little patience with shit I cannot monitor from my phone or Alexa.

Then yesterday, [personal profile] solteronita referenced this beauty - a new GE washer/dryer combo. And I fell in love.

Put dirty clothes in, come back later to dry clean ones.

I started an email thread with my appliance store. They haven't sold any yet. It takes twice as long to do a load. It's mainly for people who don't have vents. It will fit in my space. It has memory. It links to my phone and Alexa. My laundry takes twice as long now because I forget to move the stuff from the washer to the dryer.

I'm buying it. But I'll wait until after my Kiwi friends leave on the 22nd for installation.

Today's dilemma is grocery/no grocery. I need meals for today and tomorrow for sure. And the rest of the week is COVID dependent. I think what I will probably do is eat out of the freezer and maybe order in until I get a better lay of the COVID land.

So I think today I'll go over to Goodwill and drop off my stuff and maybe get some steps inside the nice, air conditioned store.

The cats are at it again. Wrestling. I love that they play with each other but I kind of wish is was more board games and not so much grabby bitey inyourface.

OK. Just finalized the purchase and assured BECU that it was not fraud. Quite the luxurious purchase but, hey, if I don't spend the money it just means that my poor brother [personal profile] bill_schubert will have to after I die and I'd hate to add that burden onto all the grief he'll obviously be going through so I'm really doing it for him.

Time for my hallway walk.

At least this is something I'll use and soon. There is a version, not the one I have, of my Samsung that has an app component. I love my Samsung but it would be SO MUCH BETTER if the model I have was phone enabled.

I'm so thrilled to have MADE you purchase this! :D I cannot wait to hear your reviews. I'm still very much leaning toward getting this one.

I've been trying to read every negative review I can find. There aren't many. But I've come across a few and GE answers by saying the user needs to update their software, so I'm wondering if that's the problem for some people. And I did read that it has a "new" smell that takes a few loads to dissipate. So far I can't find any of the deal breakers I'm searching for. I'm so ready to buy one but we're not ready yet. I keep wondering if we should buy one now for the sale price and let it wait for us in the garage until our laundry closet is built up.

Oh I have anxiety that she is running her appliance on that plug extender thing dangling off the outlet, in the video!

EDIT: wait, she just said "you know how it gets all steamy in your laundry room" - um, no, it should not, if your dryer vent is working right?

I eagerly await hearing how your washer works. My only experience with combo units was in England, which were terrible, and also a YouTuber I follow who says the same thing about his machine in NYC. I've also heard things get steamy with ventless dryers.

Looks like a nice machine. Ours is a washer dryer combo but I only use the dryer for towels and bedding in winter

I am very intrigued by that washer/dryer combo too! I'm supposed to need stacking machines once they're done with the remodel on my house, but one machine sounds much better than stacking machines...

When we were in Puerto Rico, the washer was a washer/dryer combo, which really confused me in the beginning, but was great.

I hope that it works out great for you!
