Yesterday, after Scott and Julie got here, we went across the street and got our Zipcar.

This was the first time I'd ever rented one and I have to say that the experience was pretty slick. They do make you take six pictures of the car before you can drive away and, it turns out, when you get back. I get it, but it's a PIA. The rest, however, is pretty cool. There are three regular cars and a small SUV that live in the parking garage across the street. Very very handy. I did not read all the instructions where it explained where the garage fob was and how to use it but we noodled it out. (Likewise, I did not read all the instructions for how to get back into the garage after it closes, but again, got lucky. Now I know how to do it correctly.)

The car we got was fine and easy to drive. And, drive we did. We went up to the outlet mall which took us about an hour. By the time we got there it was Africa hot but we got to the stores we wanted. They got shoes and clothes and Scott even got on a video call with a workmate at the Crocs store (she wanted a pair and he was showing her options).

Next to the mall is a large lovely Walmart so we stopped there.

Then we can back down to Bellevue and went to Kura for dinner. Kura is a revolving sushi place - the sushi revolves not you - that is always delicious and fun and a great fun place to take folks who have never been to one.

Then we came back here and watched some baseball. I had rented the car for the day so we could park it back in the garage and still get it out again to take them back to their hotel after the baseball.

It was a fun, full day and while I got exhausted walking - especially in the bright/hot sun, my back didn't hurt one single bit all day. It was amazing.

When I last bitched about it, my brother replied that he heard the pool calling me. And he's not wrong. Between Scott and Julie being here and the all star game festivities blocking up the traffic around here, chances to actually get to the pool in the next couple of weeks are going to be slim but... this morning I got out my swim bag and did an inventory. My swim music player is charging up now. If I get the chance, I intend to be ready.

And I might get the chance this morning. I think Scott and Julie are going to be investigating Pike Place Market and downtown for most of today. I expect to hear from them any minute and if that is their plan, I'll go to the pool this morning.

Julio just knocked over a glass of water so I need to clean that up and get organized and ready for whatever.

Good for you for getting swim-ready.

Zipcar in Boston didn't want all those tedious photographs; well, that was over a decade ago so there were halcyon days, at least. Overall, yeah, it worked well.

I'm really happy you're going back to swimming! You used to love it so much that I felt it was a shame you were doing horrible treadmilling instead.

Is a Zip car a care share service? I loved it when I had one for a few months. Eventually my son returned my car so I gave it up.
