I left for the pool just after 7 this morning and there was already a dude setting up a hot dog cart on my corner. By the time I got back - about 8:30 - the 'hood was already getting lively with people. The game starts at 5. I like to go to games early but I go 2 hours early not 9+ hours early!

I'm thinking mid afternoon, this place is going to be pretty wild.

I ran into an old swim buddy this morning. It was fun to see a friendly face. He said he'd been there an hour and it was crowded when he got there. This was about 7:15 and we were the only 2 there. Coming home, there was a whole lotta more traffic. I went the side streets and moved right along until I got to All Star Game land, had the streets not been blocked off, I could have slipped up the ally and been home 5 minutes sooner. They will be unblocked tonight after the game.

It's important to my motivation that it be easy to get to and from the pool. My hips hurt the entire time I was swimming. Not killer pain but ache. It feels fine now. I did not move yesterday much at all which isn't good but probably will happen again today. Although I may go out and check on the 'action' in the neighborhood later.

My swims are a very slow and steady front crawl - 1050 yards in about 40 mins.

I look forward to going each day and it feels like I have the habit back. Fingers crossed.

Earlier in the season, I bought two game tickets from my New Zealand friends. Then I found the good deal for the Press Club and bought them tickets there. I put the original tickets up for sale and just got an email that they sold. I offered them for what I paid for them so all's even.

I have a few minor chores to do this morning and really that is it. Another luxury day of nothing here.

I'm watching: The latest season of London Kills (Acorn) and I have one episode left of the latest Lincoln Lawyer (Netflix) am about to start Luther (Britbox). I watched an episode or two a while back and didn't latch. This time I probably will.

I'm reading: Joy Ellis is a writer I've never read before. She has several series out and I'm now on book one of her Jackman and Evans series The Murderer's Son. I'm enjoying it very much. I have excellent books in the queue. It will be a while before I have to even look for my next read.

I'm glad you're getting to enjoy swimming.

I started a new book - AMONG THE SHADOWS by Bruce Robert Coffin. He writes police procedurals (and he was a homicide cop himself for decades). So far it's really good. Also, he's a really nice guy, so that makes it cool as well.

Pat and I watched the Home Run Derby, and I thought of you and the traffic. The HR Derby was great this year. Man, it was really a toss-up between Vlad Guerrero and Arozarena. I'm glad Vlad won. A father/son having both won the trophy is very cool.

Do you always sit cross legged? That may be putting pressure on your hips but I do admire your flexibility!

At least with one of them having had Covid on this trip already, it's much more likely things will be all clear for the Press Club trip, so yay! As soon as you said they had Covid, I was thinking NOOOO NOT THE PRESS CLUB - although it would be wasted on me due to my total baseball ignorance, I am invested in vicariously enjoying my fellow Kiwis' experience:)
