I left here at 6:45 to go swim and then do Trader Joe's. I got to the pool only to be greeted by a sign "pool closed from 5:30-8:30 for maintenance". Yo' thanks for the advanced notice! Ugh. I turned around and left. It was still an hour before Trader Joe's opened and even longer for the pool.

So I went to Ballard. They have an LA Fitness there with a non-chlorine pool. It's on the other side of town at the height of morning rush hour, but there is a Trader Joe's next to it so WTF. It's not like my dance card is full. I'll just zen my way through.

It was a long drive but not particularly traffic-y. I did pony up the $2 toll to take the tunnel instead of the surface streets with their red lights. I got there in 30 minutes. The Ballard pool is still 3 lanes but a little bigger and deeper and usually cleaner and always crowded. Today it was all of that but not cleaner. It needs to be closed for maintenance. I did get the last available half lane and had a fabulous swim. I even did some water aerobics in the deep end after my swim. It was fine.

I figured going home would be horrible, traffic wise so I just took my time at TJ's and I got everything on my list (which I remembered to check) and headed out. Turns out, it wasn't that bad either! I was back home by 9:15. And tomorrow, my regular pool should be super clean.

They just published the Mariners schedule for next year. Opening day is against the Red Sox here at home. On my 75th Birthday!! I'm guessing one of my 40 tickets will be for the home opener and I'm perfectly fine spending my 75th birthday in the Press Club.

These are the wrist bands from all my games so far this year.

Today I have a few little chores to do but nothing huge. Just now I realized I haven't put the cheese in the fridge from TJ's and I'd better do that and go make the bed.

My pool is busted, there's something wrong with the plumbing and since my bldg is run by a lot of fuckups who knows when or even if it's gonna get fixed?

Life did seem to be all around easier when you were out in the water first thing. Glad to see it is looking that way again.

Very cool. Of course I will be rooting for you to lose, but I hope you have fun anyway.

I was not thrilled to read that the Red Sox start the season with a 10-game, 11-day West Coast road trip. The last time that happened (2019?) it did not go well.

"I got to the pool only to be greeted by a sign "pool closed from 5:30-8:30 for maintenance".

I'm thinking crap like this is what led to your falling off of swimming in the past. This kind of notification is so wrong. I could see if it said 'for repairs' but maintenance is planned and a sign on the day of is unacceptable.
