Scott and Julie love Skeechers shoes. They can get them in New Zealand but the selection is limited and Scott has wide feet so his selection is basically none. The last time they were in the states was 6 years ago and their Skeechers are tired. They found some Skeechers stores in other cities and we went to one on Monday and another one before they went to Alaska but they wanted more.

[profile] seattljo used to live down south of here where there are two so I pinged her yesterday to see which one we should start with - assuming we would do both. She gave good reason to start with the one in Federal Way and that advice turned out to be spot on the money.

The mall we went to on Tuesday is by the airport - maybe 20 minutes from here. Federal Way is another 20 minutes beyond that. Not a thrilling drive but not unpleasant. We found the Skeechers store easily and both Scott and Julie were thrilled to see it was right next to Old Navy which was next on their list.

While the stores in SouthCenter (where we went Monday) were sparse in inventory and staffing and welcoming attitude, the stores in Federal Way were exactly the opposite. They were fully stocked with lots of interested and kind staff and they were bright and roomy and pretty. The Skeecher's store was amazing. Easy to find stuff, lots and lots of stuff, very helpful staff.

We went on to Target and Walmart and even ate at Chic Fil A again. The store manager there waited on us and turns out he has a sister who lives in New Zealand. He came by while we were eating and gave Julie and Scott a very cute stuffed cow that said eat more chicken.

We totally ran out of steam before we ran out of nice places to shop. And we decided next time, we are just going to blow past SouthCenter and head for Federal Way. We didn't even go look at the other Skeechers store.

We did stop at The Last Remain Sears. OMG what a sad tale that is. There are two floors. Most of the merchandise in the appliance section was still in boxes and most of the store was empty. They had a very sad little clothes selection. It was like a funeral. They must just be running out their lease.

We came home and then went to Endolyn Joe's for dinner. Turns out that was where I took them the first time Julie visitd and they have always wanted to go back so we did and it was perfect.

This morning they are doing their own thing. They will here about lunch time with their dirty clothes to perform The Final Laundry of the old machine.

I slept late and enjoyed it very much. I was going to laze around and not swim but my back threatened that if I didn't go, it would make me pay. So I did and, of course, was very glad I did.

And now I still have a couple of hours to piddle around, get a shower, get dressed, etc.

Tonight we go to the Mariner game in the Press Club. We'll leave here about 4:30.

Tomorrow's plans are up in the air. It's their last day here. They kind of want to go to an island so we might just get on the Vashon Island ferry. Or we might just do something else.

Skeechers, not Skechers? I had a pair way back in the 90s, either when they first came out or were trendy. New stores are opening all over and I just don't see how they are still a thing.

Are Scott and Julie buying extra suitcases to bring back all that shopping?

I love Skechers, too. That's pretty much all I wear. :)
