First off my swim was great. The pool was clean and clear and not crowded and swimming was full of joy.

Then off to Walmart. Zero traffic. It was a lovely drive - even the sun sat behind clouds so no glare.

I had instore returns and online returns. The in store went great and the online was a total fail. But the instore was $60 and the online was $20 so I feel like I kind of won that one. I should have known better anyway.

When I left the store it was still 30 minutes from Popeye's opening and I know from experience that Popeye's opening time is at best translated to 'when corporate says we should open - we don't listen to them'. It does not pay to wait.

But, I remembered a little all day breakfast cafe not far away so I went there. It's way more of a dive than I thought it would be but I ventured on in. The waitress was at my table in a beat with a menu and then so was water and coffee. I ordered and then watched her work the room.

She was a magician. At every table, every person was treated as if she had waited a week just to see them. She took a million orders and I never heard anyone complain or say she got it wrong. She brought mine very promptly and with a lovely smile said 'now, if you need or want anything else, just flag me down as i go by'. It was a treat to watch her work. And when I was ready for the check, I held up my credit card for a half a beat and she was there to take it away and returned just as fast with the bill. Still smiling and making everyone feel special. My breakfast was cheap but she got a 99% tip. (I did the math so the total was a round number to ensure my tip looked as intentional as it was.) I am sorry I didn't leave her a note.

When I got home I got the reminder (from me) that my claim with Google customer service over my dead Pixel watch was a week old. So I went on chat to ask what was new trying to keep the WTF??????? out of my request. The CSR said he/she would send an escalation email and copy me. He/she may have sent the email, I got nothing.

So I went on the Google Forums and asked if this was normal or if I was being dissed because I am beautiful (I worded it differently). Almost immediately, I got a reply from a guy asking for my case number so he could escalate. So maybe.

I'm really just on a fairness jihad at this point. Assuming they send me a new watch, I will likely sell it because I like my Fitbit Sense better. I just don't want Google to get by with such shitty service.

I started a new book last night that is so far an excellent read. Gone Again by Dough Johnstone. It's only a 6 hour book but so far so good.

I've never worked in a restaurant and I hope never will. That's far too difficult for me. I am full of admiration for good waitstaff. I hope your 99% tip made her day.

You know - your mention that your pool was clean and clear reminded me - as we were sitting by the pool drying off after class on Friday, my friend Lisa pointed out that our pool is *always* sparkling clear - and we both sat for a minute and appreciated that!

Hopefully google steps up and sorts out your watch issue! It is totally a fairness thing - just because you don't want to use it anymore, doesn't mean they should get off the hook!

It is fun to watch someone who is on *top* of their game - how cool that you were able to see it and acknowledge it!

That cafe sounds awesome! How nice you were able to acknowledge the work of the waitress!

It really is about principles regarding your experience with Google & its watch. Good for you!

Happy reading! I'm currently almost finished with one about a prison librarian.
