It's a cool and gray Sunday morning. Most people around here will wake up bemoan that the sun is not out. Not I. No sun equals no heat. Love it.

The fabric place doesn't open until 11. I plan to be there when the doors open. There are closets on both sides of the bedroom and this morning when I work up those ugly old user-hateful doors were just mocking me... 'yeah, you may have figured out how to ditch us but it took you 10 years! neener neener'

My poor hosting company is still not back all the way and I fear that it never will be. So I signed up with another one. Now I will be doing the uploading that I did yesterday again today... At least it doesn't require heavy lifting.

I put the ashtrays away today. I had them washed and stacked near the sink since last week. But, today they are high in the cubbard. It's been a week. I now declare myself a non-smoker. I can't imagine taking it up again but if I do, it will have to be as a non-smoker - one who backslides. This is as opposed to a smoker who can't quit. Sleeping is a lot easier but the litter box really stinks now. Trade offs.

Well, I have to declare my project a success even if it's not finished yet.

Here's the before...

This is the smaller of the two closets (the bigger one had three doors instead of two)...

Here's the middle...

The doors are off and the inards reveraled.

And here's half done...

I started out at the fabric shop and decided to try out Proof of Concept with muslin since I could get it in 108" widths and it's relatively cheap. Then on to Home Depot. Home Depot was a mad house. But, I found the rods I wanted and the hooks. Since I wanted the rods to hang down from the top, I couldn't use the hardware that came with them because that was for sticking out of the wall.

Then home where I hit my first skid. Those damn doors are heavy and tricky to get off. I finally figured out the trick and then realized that I was going to have to remove the track, too. They were attached with a gazillion screws and it took me forever to get the first one out.

Back to the hardware store for a power screwdriver and then it was smooth sailing. I finished off the big closet and it's wonderful. It makes the room seem warmer, softer. I need some more hem stuff so I'll get that tomorrow morning and do the other closet.

PLUS I figured out that flat bed sheets will work fine as curtain panels! Presto change-o! And I have yet another 3 door closet in my den/guestroom - it's getting the same treatment but probably with the sheets.

Now the problem is the doors. What to do with them. I kind of feel like maybe I should hang on to them. I'm not sure why - probably because I have no idea how I would get rid of them. They aren't hollow and weigh a ton. My neighbors downstairs are coming up tomorrow to help me figure out what to do with them. I think I can store a couple of them at least and maybe 4 or 5 on top of the closets. Then I think I can probably stuff the remaining ones in the storage area maybe.

I'm only one person and some things just need two people... Outside of the obvious, moving a platform bed and juggling really heavy doors are good examples. But, that didn't stop me from trying. Tomorrow it is likely I will not have a muscle in my body that isn't screaming. Oh well. I am losing my attachmen to these stupid doors. Why in the world would I want to keep them? There is a builders salvage place near the fabric store. I think I'll stop by there tomorrow and see if he could use 8 sliding doors with hardware... And if he'd be willing to come get 'em.

I do love my curtained closet, though. It makes me smile.
