NPR wakes me up. The coffee is ready when NPR goes off. I get my cup and the newspaper and get back into bed to find out what the week's news is. The Weekend Edition puzzle was really easy this week which is pretty unusual.

Jake is calm and stress free and napping. Betty is not happy about this. So far he has resisted her attempts to piss him off.

Now the dirty clothes are getting washed and I'm getting ready to see about some breakfast. And then, shocking to those who frequent my webcam page, I am going to sit on the couch and watch TV and knit.

I gave some thought to doing something else but nothing else seems to be as inviting.

Netflix says:

A poignant comedy of five interwoven stories all touching on yearning, love and loss in women's lives.

I have no idea how this got onto my list or why I rented it. It was strangely compelling and I'm not at all sure what it was about. My biggest problem with movies is sticking them out until I get interested enough. I have to make myself, sometimes, even sit through the first 30 minutes. This one suckered me in from minute one and kept me rooted to the end and I have no idea why. Weird. But on [livejournal.com profile] kjaz's $8, I'd have to give it at least $7.50.

The new harddrive for Tivo will be here on Wednesday. Then I will have to decide whether or not to put it in now, or wait and until this drive totally fails and put it in then. Of course, I have seen nearly none of the behavior that originally caused me to panic and order it.

I'll want to watch everything I currently have recorded and get it in there before the next recording is scheduled. I have been saving West Wings and that collection will now have to go. Oh, sure, I could dump them on to VHS but that's just silly. I can get new ones. But, the worst part is going to be severing the ties.

One of the most wonderful things about Tivo is that it gets to know you. When it's not recording something you requested, it looks at what you like and finds similar stuff and records that. So, you get these little treats of stuff you'd never have found on your own. My Tivo and I have been watching TV together now for more than three years. We're a good team.

When I yank out that harddrive, I will be yanking out us. I'll have to start a whole new relationship with the hew harddrive. I think I'm going to do the yanking next Sunday. I'll probably change my mind on that about a dozen times between now and then but that's what I'm thinking now. If I have to start a new relationship, I might as well get it going ASAP.

The little celebration I've been working on is coming together nicely. She turns 80 on February 1. Everyone I invited has now said they will come. She is delighted. They will go by limo to a very fancy and nice place that is too far away for 80 year olds to go for dinner by themselves. I'm pretty sure that everything is now totally set and all that's left to do is pay the bill. Oh and my sister who is usally to thorn in the side of anything that needs cooperation is even cooperating. She already sent me a check for her third. My brother is good for his third.

Nothing left to worry about on that front!
