Best I can tell, Bill and Trey are off now collecting Mom from the hospital. After the initial excellent report of yesterday, Bill kind of backtracked a little. He says to get around, she'll have to have a walker for the apartment and a scooter for getting to the bar, dining room, mail room, car, etc. Fortunately, we can rent both right there and he's working on getting that done today. He's going to try and go home and back to work today and leave Trey there for Mom.

He did report this morning that he got a voice message from the bartender. This guy is about 25 and madly in love with Mom. Bill says that Jon (bartender) called to tell Trey that if there was any tiny little thing he could do to help, to let him know. Oh and not to worry if Mom is cranky - that she gets that way when she doesn't feel well.

Ya gotta love an 81 year old woman who's bartender knows her so well...

In other news, the promised rain has, so far, been about 2 spits worth. The highs for the next several days is not supposed to get above the mid-60's which is fabulous. But, a little wet wouldn't hurt either.

I got my first email from Mom. Bill had sent one before he left saying that she was home but wheelchair bound and couldn't get her wheelchair to the computer. Guess she figured that out. She gave me a hard time about the Mariners' losing. She said her feet hurt a little (which means probably a lot - she's not much of a complainer) but she says her balance is ok.

She's got an appointment with her main doctor tomorrow at 8. I just got a note from Bill who is now back home in Jacksonville. He says he called and Trey told him that Mom ditched the wheelchair the minute he left.

I left work today and it was overcast and cool. I went home changed clothes, grabbed by tape and set out to walk. I even grabbed a sweatshirt jacket and needed it. It was raining!! Big old fat drops. Fabulous!! That lasted about 14 drops. And then the sun came out and it was hot and humid. grrrrrrrr. But, I got about 40 minutes in and lived to tell the tale.

I recorded the new Ellen DeGeneres show this morning and am going to watch it tonight. The Mariners are a lock not to lose tonight - they aren't playing.

Well, turns out my brother tried to watch Mom's big TV and screwed up her TiVo. She called him and he has no clue what he did or how to fix it. I have no clue what he did or how to fix it. She was tired and just wanted to watch TV and all she could get was NBC - no other channels and no TiVo. It wasn't pretty.

I dug out Chad's (remember Chad The Savior from the last TiVo crisis?) cell phone number. And he answered! And he told me that he had just finished unloading the moving truck into his new appartment in Charlotte, NC. ARUGH! He said that some of the guys he worked with in Charleston had started a company doing the same kind of home entertainment installation but that they were really busy and he doubted that they would be able to help Mom. I'll call them tomorrow anyway.

I posted a note on the TiVo Community forum and got some ideas of things to try. It would be quite the thing if after all this I have to go out there anyway just to fix the fucking TV. If I do, I am putting a sign on it that says Anyone Who Touches This TV Will Be Evaporated!

I did a quick check to see if there were any cheap Sept. 11 fares to Charleston. None at all. In fact, leaving on September 11 and coming back anytime in September is a minimum of $1,200 - quite the deal, don't you think??? Ugh.

The Ellen DeGeneres Show was a bit rough. Hopefully, they'll get it figured out. The first few Rosie O'Donnell shows were rough but once she got going it was great for a year or two before she got nutso.
