Hot.

We were promised a break in the heat yesterday and it was no where to be found so now we have all of the heat of last week plus yesterday and today... the accumulation is wearing on me. Part of it is psychological and part of it is real. This old building is constructed using thick thick (like 18" thick) 100 year old brick and timber. It was a railroad warehouse. The natural insulation is heaven in the winter. I have turned my heat on twice in 13 years. (Once when I moved in, to see if it worked and again about 5 years later to see if it still worked.)

That same insulation keeps it cool until the heat works its way in and then it stays. And now it's here. And I hate it. The A/C is working hard. So at least I will have rooms that, if I don't move too much or too fast, are bearable.

But, forget my going anywhere. I might go down to the garage to take a load of trash to the dumpster but that will be it. I'm here for the day and probably for tomorrow. But, that's ok. I have teddy bears to make, two movies from Netflix, baseball game at 1 and enough food, and chores I can do if I feel the need but nothing that has to be done.

Oh and there's the Summer parade tonight. It starts at the Space Needle (the other end of town) and ends up here in my parking lot. It used to be still going full steam when it got here but in past years it's kind of fizzled by the time it gets to where I can see it but it's still fun to see the parade fodder.

For today, however, I'm thinking cool thoughts...

The payoff

I so love having a place for everything and knowing where it is. I can't put everything away until the shelves are finished but I am way better off than the days I was living in boxes and tripping over them.

I just went to box up something for mailing. I easily found writing paper, fountain pen, tape, tissue paper, Sharpie, and return address labels. All in places there they should be. Boxed up the goods and put everything back in its place. Easy peasy and Heaven.
