No big revelations
Oct. 18th, 2005 09:17 amThis desktop at work was brand new when I started here 18 months ago. It's a Dell desktop something. When I leave every day, I turn off the monitor and the passworded screensaver kicks in. In the morning, I turn on the monitor, put in the password and I'm back in biz. Last week one the of the forced updates turned on the powersaver hibernation thing. Really annoying. I came in and turned the monitor on to learn I was in some kind of power saving mode. Blech. I did not know how to wake it up so I had to power off and then power on. I found the hibernation bit in the power section of the control panel and turned it off.
This morning, I got the same damn thing. Power button blinking amber. No way to wake the damn thing up. I hate to power off and power on. It makes me cranky. I can't find any where that is tweaked to make it do this and I can't figure out how to wake it up without turning it off and back on again. It's not nice to make me cranky in the morning.
And I cannot find another supplier. I want a bulk order - 10 pounds at least - delivered. Bonus points if it comes in under $.40 an ounce. Making these damn bears is the easy part. Gathering the bits is turning out to be a bitch.
