This is the third time recently that I've written an entry and *thought* I sent it off - only to find it sitting in drafts when I go to make the next one? It never happened before last week and now three times. Am I losing it???

---

From last night:

I really like UPS's new tracking info! I sent a box to my brother and just checked the tracking number... impressive.

---

I never got a good booth babe shot for [livejournal.com profile] mhaithaca. Sorry, dude. I owe ya'.

---

My brother and I were really surprised at the lack of smokers in Las Vegas. We finally ran in to some and by the time we left, he was complaining of second hand smoke induced cough. I would have enjoyed some second hand smoke - I love the smell, I do, but I only got the very occasional whiff.

But we did encounter one smoker ... in the elevator! I haven't seen that in years.

---

I watched a lot of the CES coverage today and it was fun and satisfying to learn we actually saw many of the highlights. However the most amazing thing we saw - ASUS Iris Project wasn't mentioned by anyone.

Gym Report

Today, 30 minutes on the treadmill were pretty much a nothingburger. Boring but very doable.

That's when I realized how actually pretty amazing the Las Vegas adventure really was. From last Wednesday night through Saturday, I was on my feet and moving for the majority of my awake time. Very different than my usual life. I was a little anxious before the trip as to whether or not I could do it. Turns out I sure can. And that is only because of this gym thing that I hate. At least it has rewards.

Dude! Where is my face??!! Actually, he needs the rest of an ear, too but he's very nearly green chair ready.

My job future is still a question mark. Oh, that sounds drastic. It's not. There may be a reduction in the number of hours I work a week. I'm shooting for a whole day off or 2 with the other work days full of work. We'll see.

So that's one of the reasons why I haven't bought the new TV yet. The other is that, without my contact, I can see the old one just fine. So far, I've been operating fine and dandy with no contact and no glasses. It's actually pretty amazing.

Another reason is that the problem with my TV - slow to turn on - is not getting worse.

But the new one is calling me anyway because it is so sexy.

The TV I settled on (47" Vizio, LED xvt473SV) is not, apparently, enjoying a Super Bowl sale. If I get it (which I probably will), I'll mostly likely get it from Amazon.

In other money news, I finally got the receipt from MGM Grand - about 8 hours AFTER the charge hit my Discover card. Still lame. Happily there were no surprises and the money I squirreled away for the trip covered all the expenses including both the new pillow and an extra expense I hadn't counted on so the bill is paid and CES is over... sigh. It was grand.

We are supposed to get snow this afternoon. Not enough to be fun but just enough to fuck up the afternoon commute. It looks snow ready outside. And it's nice and cold. I'm ready for it to start now.

My friend, Bill Devlin has been looking at the same Vizio I have and he found that Dell has it $100 cheaper than Amazon. But I don't want to buy it from Dell (and the tax hit is the same). So he pointed me to Amazon's price matching. And that just did it. The final straw was 100 bucks. No accounting for sanity here.

He said the Devlin made me do it and he's right.

It will be here a week from tomorrow. Now I can obsess about something else.

---

It's snowing but it's dark so hard to see and enjoy. I only hope it's still there come daylight tomorrow.

It's really beautiful. Even on The Tree That I Hate. That's the Union Station clock tower that you can see through the trees and snow. It's really so pretty.
