It does appear as if today is going to be yet another day with no work. Not my preference but I can deal with it.

One big problem with no work is that it gives me lots of time to spend money buying crap online. In my job, no work equals no pay which does not bode well for that spending money part.

So today's big goal is going to be to not spend money. I just paid the Discover bill and the goal is to rack up no more charges on it. At least not today... one day at a time.

I watched the first two new shows of the new season and neither rung my chimes. I am a fan of 30 minute situation comedies. I watched Free Agent and Up All Night. I did not kill the season pass of either but they are both on the One More Time To Make Sure Then Delete list.

I have been catching up on The Protector which I'm actually enjoying. I saw the pilot when it first aired and just stockpiled the rest but now I'm watching them and realize that my first semi-meh reaction was hasty. I like the cast a lot and the characters.

---

Today's swim will be over in Ballard and it is another shallow end class and it is an hour earlier at 11. Starting next week, I think I can get - fairly easily - to a deep water class every day between the pool in the Central District and the one in Queen Anne.

I have lived in Seattle 19.5 years and have taken many city services for granted but these city pools are really just amazing. They are very pleasant place to be. They don't smell funny. The temperature of the place and the pool is perfect. The classes are great and the schedule isn't bad either - there are lots of after work options that I don't even pay attention to in addition to the day time classes, I love.

I could do my job from anywhere in the world - literally. I feel in love with Seattle the first week I moved here and that love just grows stronger every day. It's a fabulous place to live.

I may put the air conditioner to rest in its storage closet this weekend. It might be too soon but I am tired of looking at it. I can pull out the tower fan to get my by should we have flash of hot weather again. On the other hand, I just looked at my list from past years and this would be one of the earliest I have ever packed it up. Last year I did it on October 6. Hmmmm No need to decide today.

Anderson Cooper's new show. I think I like it. I've watched most of it - fast forwarded through boring/Snookie parts. But, so far. It looks like it's going to depend on who his guests are. Audience interaction is at a minimum which I appreciate. I'd like for it to be none, but I get that the formula requires it.

And I am happy to have Ellen back. I also fast forward through some of her stuff but most of it I really like.

Yes, I will watch Rosie O'Donnell's new show. I liked her old one mostly so I'll watch this one with fingers crossed that she kept the good parts and killed the bad ones.

My plan was Ballard Pool at 11. At 9:30, I looked up the pool schedule to see if I wanted to do something this weekend, and I saw there was a 10 am deep end class at Greenlake. WTF. So I hopped in the car and made a beeline for Greenlake.

Good class but I don't think I'll be going back there. Parking is a bitch. But mainly it was packed... to the gills... The pool is smaller than the others and there were two classes going on at the same time - old people in the shallow end and semi-old people in the deep end. The shallow end was full. The deep end was not quite that bad (but I did overhear a regular say that usually there are a lot more people in the deep end class). They kicked us all out immediately after class and the shower and locker room was a madhouse.

I think that will be my emergency pool. Also the instructor was meh. The instructor for the shallow end group, however, was hilarious. About my age and full of energy.

On the way home I stopped by two more pools that I had not been to but that are on my radar... Mainly I wanted to check out the access and parking. Both seem fine. Options.

Yikes! I totally forgot to post this until now! The picture is now very old as this guy already has a head and an arm and a half. He'll be sleeping on the green chair tonight.
