I polished off two projects this morning!

My brother sent me a memory book to fill out. He sent it a while ago and I'd pick it up and write some answers and then put it down again. This morning I picked it up and finished it off. It was a fun exercise. I am really disappointed in my handwriting. My handwriting used to be passable and now it just sucks. It is better with a fountain pen so I used one of those but still - but still it sucks. Except for this book, i don't really care so it's not a big deal, just kind of a surprise in a disappointing way.

Then I finished going through the 1,500+ photos I have stored on my pre-Flickr web place. There is no way to bulk download the pictures. They are from 2003-2005 and mostly from my first Treos. Uploaded directly to the website, bypassing my own computer. Half of them were decent pix and about a third of those were worth saving. The other half were the first generation Trio and wow, did that camera suck. Here's one of the first ones... a self portrait. It was either before or just after I quit smoking so I was not quite as rotund as what you get today.

I also found a nice picture of my Mom and some good shots of the place where she lived. There was a shot of the Seattle street car and of the triangle building across the street from here before they built the giant office building on the end of it.

Fun trip down memory lane.

I have trolled around the internets looking for tips and tricks and info on aqua jogging and water exercise but for some reason I finally remembered to look in the library! There are lots of books and one DVD! So I slapped a hold on them all. Then I went to Amazon and even found some Kindle books on the topic and sent the samples to my Kindle. Now I've got some reading to do! Mainly I want to get ideas for variety and make sure I'm doing it right.

My plan today is to be at the pool ready when it opens at 11. Sheri the designer will be here to talk about my desk corner at 1.

I have no clue what work will be like today. Our updates go live Sunday at midnight so Monday morning we check it all and send in a report on each - I've done that and now wait for this week's assignments.

And that's the report du jour so far.

Oh I am excited. Sheri was just here and we got a lot of good ideas going for changing my office quadrant into something very much more visually appealing and useful. Yeah!

Right now it is a giant desk, arm and credenza in a big old heavy U shape with a heavy chair in the center. It's all leaving and in it's place will be a shallow credenza of drawers and doors and open shelves and a table that is maybe 15" wide for keyboards and mice and then a floating table for work/dining/whatever of some kind with a couple of chairs maybe. And all new lighting.

Yeah!!! I told her that I want to plan, plan, plan, order, make finish and plan and schedule before we do the first thing. I want the upheaval to be a very minimum. She seemed to get it. I'm sticking to that. I told her I wanted to see ideas and thoughts before we talked budget and she was ok with that.

She's going to go put her thinking cap on.

My jobs are find a place on the wall for the webcam. I need to unhook it and move it around and see if I can find a spot that works since where it's sitting now is going to be gone. Then I need to replace my 'server' CPU that currently sits under the desk. It's just too big. I think I can just use my netbook with some powered USB ports instead.

I'm quite excited at the prospect of it all.

Here's a tiny shot I found today of what the area used to look like:

The current desk and credenza are stuffed to the gills. All of the paper - except maybe 4 small folders worth - can go downstairs to the storage unit and wait for the IRS if they ever want to audit.

Most of the gadgetry will get a new home.

But, the office supplies are the problem. I have office supply issues. I inherited them from my mother. I am an office supply hoarder. If I used a post it note a day from now until the turn of the next century, I know I would still have a pile left over. Pens and pencils and clips and tape and notepads and note books and holymotherofgod.

When I started the original makeover - lo those many years ago (makeover story), I got rid of 89 tons of shit. I feel like this little project alone is going to require getting rid of half of that same amount. I think I'm going to go ahead and get it started. If something happens and I don't do this redesign, at least I will have had a nice purge.

Tomorrow, I'll go down to the storage area and bring up those big plastic covered tubs that I also hoard.

I did move the webcam. It will take some getting used to - the view is so different. But the spot is good. I'll get Sheri's handyman to anchor it down and maybe even drill holes in the cabinet it's closest to, to hide the cables!

Next up - besides the purge - is to organize/transfer/set up the netbook to replace the CPU that is my 'faux' server.

Even if it does not happen all the way, this project is a good project at a good time for me to do it. Nice.

Plain brown bear with very tasteful sweater. I think he's a midlevel executive.

Dear TV news people - local and national. Adjectives modify nouns. Verbs are modified by adverbs. (A really big clue would be the "verb" that's right there in the word - adverb.) But for people who's job depends on communicating in English, you sure do constantly and consistently butcher the rules. So stop it, k? thx. sd
