I got a wonderfully, easy-breathing 10 hours of sleep!! And, so far this morning, I feel good.  Nice. So nice. I turned off my alarm again and woke up at 5:15 and closed my eyes and woke up again at 8!   I'm very grateful.  I also did well last night, going to the restaurant, chatting and breathing and eating at the same time.  The walks to and from the car was short and Ron walks very slowly so I didn't even have to do anything but follow along and it was just fine.  Whew.  It's so nice to have a couple of days that are better.  Not normal but way better.

No real plans for today.  I might go out to breakfast.  Maybe just down to the Denny's near here.  And I think I'll get that work work done and then probably bear knitting and TV watching.  Ron and Ann said to show up down the hall about 5:30.  So that's the plan.

We've had some really sincere gusts of wind here this morning. But, they seem to have died down a bit now. I'll bet you out in the 'burbs, there's some massive 'sharing' of lawn furniture among neighbors.

My friends, Ann and Ron had a small dress/gift shop here in Seattle for about 25 years until they closed it and retired about 4 years ago.  Last night at dinner, Ron (who turns 75 today) admitted that he does miss work.  I so get that.

This morning, I passed on going out to breakfast and sat down at the work computer and dug in.  When I finished 4 hours had passed and I was surprised it was that long.  I like the work.  It's like solving a puzzle or wrapping a an elegant package - there are things to noodle out along the way and when you are done you have a thing to look at and say I did that!

I don't have to travel or even get dressed.  I attend the few meetings required of me over the phone.  I can even work when I can barely breathe and no one even knows.  It's just the perfect job for me and I'm so lucky to have found it and lucky to have it.  I am so not ready to retire. I don't plan on living until I'm 75 but if I do, maybe I'll be ready but not now.

Plus, now I'm all caught up and ready for Tuesday!

Oooh I just read that more than 18,000 people are without power right now in Seattle.  May I just say thank you for leaving me out of that group??!!  We don't get ice storms like the south. We may have a snow storm every 4 or 5 years.  We have earthquakes and  a volcano but not that often but wind?  We got wind.  And we are getting a Christmas morning blow job today but I think it maybe over.

Now I think I'll take advantage of breathing and go empty the dishwasher before I put my feet up and knit.

Free idea!
A laptop keyboard that emits a tiny shock when touched by cat paws.
Make one and I'll buy it no matter what the price.

Last week I had a very bad night, then two good ones, then a very bad one.  I've since had two good ones and so if history repeats tonight will be bad.  I'm trying to actually come down on the side of tonight will prove that the bad night history is over.

I have not moved much today.  I've walked around the condo and done things like empty the dishwasher but nothing heavy duty and everything short term.  Otherwise I sat and worked or sat and played on the computer or sat and watched TV.

With that disclaimer, however, I am happy to report I have felt very nearly normal all day long!   It's been a lovely Christmas gift.

I just had a prophylactic  hit on the inhaler.  I leave for Ann and Ron's in an hour and I wanted to give it time to sink in and get to work but I wanted to leave enough hours so that I could get another hit before bed if I needed it.

And I'm just not going to believe that tonight's sleep will be like last night's, wonderful.

Edit maybe 30 mins later:  I just thought of a test I could do...  gather up the garbage, clean the litter box, and take it all down to the dumpster.  Did it all - not at top speed, mind you, but I did it and made it back with very little panting. This is so encouraging.
