Dec. 20th, 2012
The Roku turned out to be a better deal than I thought. When they were first announced, I bought one and waited a good while before they ever shipped out. They had Netflix and really that was about it. My TV/TiVo/DVD mix at the time was hugely confusing and convoluted and Roku was not adding enough value so I sent it to my brother.
Things have changed... Roku wise speaking. Until I fired it up, I had not focused on the breadth. Besides Amazon and Netflix, there is CNET and Revision3 and TWIT and etc etc etc - lots o' good stuff. On the down side, the wifi radio is f l a k e y at least at my house. I couldn't keep a show going on any channel for very long. Plus there was other stuff I wanted so.... I returned the low end and bought the high end. So I ended up paying twice as much - which was still about half what my very first Roku cost. And I get ethernet. PLUS thanks to Christmas, Amazon gave me free one day shipping. That sucker will be here today!
My brother is doing a webinar today at 11. I will have to leave for swimming before it's over but I'm interested in hearing him do a least part. He is/was an actor and knows his stuff and knows his audience (small business) so it should be good.
There's a new food truck - grilled cheese and other delights - over at Starbucks HQ (about a mile from here) today. I think I'm going to stop there after swim class today. It just dawned on me that next Tuesday's class won't be - actually the next two Tuesdays. Poop.
Betty is being particularly snuggly this morning. She's never one to snuggle my face or neck or even put up with my holding her but she's all over my lap a lot of the time and her favorite thing is to position her head so that my typing or my knitting will create a rhythmic head rub for her. Cracks me up. She's really very good company.
I think I'll read my book until Webinar time...

Cheaper than a chiropractor!
Dec. 20th, 2012 04:35 pmI have been crouching over my computer for months now - since I quit work, actually. My back and posture were suffering. I enjoyed not having the laptop table cluttering up the living room but this crouching was getting to be a problem.
I about getting one of those breakfast in bed trays but they are so big and the ones I have seen are not that attractive. It needs to be pretty and small enough to swing around to the side when I don't want it in front of me but big enough to fit the laptop.
Amazon to the freakin' rescue again!! $16 with tax. It fits my laptop perfectly and the deep pockets on either side hide my chapstick, my remote, my emery board, Betty's nail clippers, my earbuds and my handlotion. I love having that stuff within reach but again, I hate the clutter. And I can easily move it to the side or to the front. Happy happy.

Also, the Roku replacement arrived and is all hooked up with ethernet and very happy. I dropped the other one off at UPS. I totally heart Amazon.
I finally called Walgreens again and now have the 4th version of how this whole transition is to go. Today's guy says that my prescriptions will never show up on the website until I refill them all at least once. WTF??? At least he did read off my drugs so I have some confidence that my records have at least arrived. I can't reorder until mid January. Our insurance year starts January 31 and February is usually no man's insurance land while the new replaces the old. So I made a calendar date to call them back January 15th. We'll see. Whatever.
