For several reasons I decided not to go to CES this year - well, next year. January 2015. I've gone for the past 4 years. Last year, I enjoyed it but it wasn't the thrill that the other years had been. I also didn't look forward to it as much as years before. Then when my brother said his wife was going to join him, that just threw a light on it that made the whole thing less attractive.  The way I like to do it, it's not a cheap deal so I decided to save the cash and just skip it.

I'm kind of vaguely wondering now whether the decision was a good one. I guess I won't know until January when everyone is there and I'm not. I am pretty sure it will be easy to go back in 2016 if I want to so it's no biggie. Just thoughts rattling around.

My sleep has been weird lately. Night before last I dreamed that my friend, John - who died more than a decade ago and never ever smoked - had taken up cigarettes. During the day yesterday, I actually wondered for a brief minute whether I had any ashtrays left for when he next visits. Very disconcerting.  Last night I had dreams that were the kind that brought such relief when I woke up and realized it was just a dream. I think it's the warm weather. I sleep so much better when I can burrow into the fluffy duvet. It's not even cool enough now for a very light cover.

Swimming at 11. It's supposed to be cooler today so there may be errands or not. We'll see.

This morning, I didn't feel all that great. I got better before time to swim and swimming was fine. I got home and at lunch and then got so sleepy, that I couldn't keep my eyes open. I slept for an out and woke up groggy. I hate naps. But now, at 8, I'm dying of sleepy again. I just had some ice cream that woke me up a little but I think I'm going to give up soon.  If I wake up at 3 am because I've had too much sleep, no big deal. Being retired without responsibilities has some serious upsides.

I did manage two loads of laundry and changed the sheets on the bed so I haven't been a total slug.  Just a half slug.

Oh and the toilet guy finally called. I had already decided that I don't need a new toilet. It's a waste of money. Pus, I don't like this guy's toilets. So I told him the job was being postponed. I did contact my handy woman outfit to ensure they will pick up the new toilet, replace the old one and haul it away whenever I am ready. She suggested Home Depot or Lowes and said they particularly like American Standard. Yahoo!! American Standard makes the one I really want - 2 different flushes - flush buttons top.

So, when I can't stand my old one any more or when it dies, I have a plan that I can fire up without issue anytime.  (Oh and I don't have to worry about registering a new vendor with the building management - Amyworks has been out here in my unit and others bunches of times.)

Now back to TV for maybe a little longer.
