Hangover

Last night I watched an episode of The Crown. It's the one where King George dies. They show the very distraught Princess Margaret galloping fiercely across the moor on her horse like she was trying to outrun the horrible news. I thought at the time 'well, that's certainly cinematic'.

But, it was exactly the feeling I had when I shoved off from the pool side first thing this morning. It really felt good to be submerged and moving as fast as I could.

I'm so very sad that I will likely not live long enough to see a woman president. And I'm really embarrassed as citizen of this country. It will be different and I refuse to believe it will be as bad as it looks from where we sit today. And I remain so eternally grateful to the Obamas for eight marvelous years and for setting the example of how it should be done.

On the really horrible news front, I got home from the pool today to find no ice in my new icemaker!! It was on just just dripping water. They don't even have support set up yet. I fiddled with it and rebooted it and and waited. Just before I started this entry, I heard the first pellet drop. WHEW! It's now cranking out new ice. I think maybe I don't have it in ice making mode often enough (there's an app, of course, for scheduling). I did figure out that it does not need as much water as I first thought so I can move it away from the sink which will be nice.

The house cleaner is coming today which will be nice. It's just before really needing her which is kind of a little victory. I think once she gets here and gets going, I'll head on out to Costco. Toilet paper, paper towels and butter. Oh and cupcakes if they have vanilla ones with vanilla icing. And then home to sew.

Here's a bear I finished last night.

Ok. Frozen pot stickers? Yep. Excellent. 6 minutes from freezer to mouth. And I think maybe 5 would have been better.

I'm trying everyone once without any oil. So far, I'm finding that a spray of oil would improve most. Including pot stickers. I've ordered an oil spritzer from Amazon. But even without, delish.

They actually taste better than they look.

Lemonade?

On most days, if I think about it, I am so relieved that I do not have anything to do with Facebook. Today, I've been thinking that all day. I keep reading - people whining and complaining about all the whining and complaining on Facebook. Today is hard enough as it is. I'm grateful to not be mired in Facebook shit as well.

I made a couple of dolls and did some reorg of my sewing closet. The reorg makes me feel productive and smart. The dolls just make me happy.

Then I saw these dogs. They are the cutest ever. I've been following their instagram for a while but today, they really hit the bulls eye.

And my house is clean. And Hunter (next door) brought me 'virgin' cookies that are delicious! Oatmeal with butterscotch chips and they are perfectly done. He's whacko but some of his bakes are just spectacular and I'm lucky that he shares.

Oh and just now I got another neighbor gift. A woman I have noticed before (because she has very amazingly beautiful black ringlet hair) was coming in with her coffee and joined me in the elevator. I came in behind her to the lobby. She had on a beautiful coat - light weight with gorgeous and unusual lines. While we were waiting for the elevator I complimented her on the coat noting that I was so impressed with the cut. She said that's why she bought it. She got it at COS. I explained that as someone who sews, I'm constantly fascinated by how clothes are constructed. She asked me if I had seen the Yves St. Laurent exhibit at the Seattle Art Museum and I told her I hadn't. Then she left a museum free pass in my door with the nicest note!

I'm quite jazzed about it. Plus, I just looked on their website and a senior ticket to this show is $24! The website is a little vague about how to use this ticket. I think maybe I'll just show up at their door with it and see what happens. Maybe Monday. Their website says Mondays are good non-crowd times.

I'm thinking of trying popcorn chicken for dinner - chicken nuggets, if you will :) Air fried, of course.

Tonight was chicken and twice baked potato. And it was good. Being able to pull something out of the freezer and have it ready to eat on the plate in under 15 minutes and have it be good is pretty much nirvana for me. I don't like to cook and I hate trying to guess what I'm going to feel like eating at dinner time. I think this air fryer is going to fix that problem.

I pulled one of the stuffed potatoes out of the freezer and some of the popcorn chicken that I got at Grocery Outlet. I cooked the potato for 8 minutes. Then I tossed in the chicken and sprayed it the non-stick spray and cooked all of it for another 4 minutes. I think I got this timing right.

The potato was perfect. The chicken was nice and crispy on the outside and chickeny on the inside. 12 mins total. Oh yeah, baby.

No smell. No mess. There is a basket there that pops right out for easy cleaning and then the pot below it also wipes down easily. You have to wait until they cool down, but you just pop 'em back into the fryer thing out until they do so they are even out of sight.
