Just as the Mariners snatched their victory last night, I came across the news that my car's time on this earth is limited - maybe to the end of this year but maybe a little longer - no more than 4 years. In the U.S. Smart Cars are sold and serviced by Mercedes. Smart Car has decided that only electric models will be sold in the U.S. after this year. So more than half of the Mercedes dealerships are just ending their Smart Car partnerships. Those that are not will be able to service the current gas models for only 4 more years.

Phuck. I love my car. My plan was to keep it forever.

I have an email into my service guy asking. And, there are a bscillion Smart Cars in Seattle now because Car2Go uses them (they use electric versions in some cities but gas here in Seattle) so they will keep the service end up for a while. I don't have a plan B. The closest is maybe a Fiat 500 but they are too low to the ground and I don't like them nearly as much as mine. I'm so bummed.

THEN

This morning, I get to the gym. Every morning except Sundays, when I get to the gym, Bridget who does the cleaning, is there, in the locker room and we exchange happy Good Mornings! And she keeps me posted on stuff and she explains stuff (like why the TV sound has to blare - because the millennials can't handle silence). From the years we've been seeing each other routinely, I've learned she has a 5 year old daughter and a 17 year old son. She drives a red hot Mustang convertible.

She was gone Monday and Tuesday and the state of the showers and locker room reflected her absence and not in a good way at all. So this morning when I saw here I was delighted and gave her an extra peppy Good Morning!! And then she told me that Friday will be her last day.

She got a job with the City of Seattle Department of Transportation. I don't know what she'll be doing but the way she talked about it, it is a dream job for her and I'm delighted and super bummed. My future holds no more Good Mornings (her replacement is 'some guy') and likely grody showers.

For years I kept a stash of pretty beaded lanyards to give as 'congrats on your promotion or new job' gifts. I have one left. I'm sure she'll be issued a security badge by the city and tomorrow she'll have a pretty lanyard to put it on.

While I swam, I conjured on what will be the third thing that will be a bummer.

And, when I got home, my Keurig - long out of warranty - spewed coffee all over the counter. I haven't cleaned it in years so that will be step one. But, if that doesn't work, then replacement and man, those things are pricey!

So now that I've had my three things, I'm expecting nothing but clear sailing from here on out. Maybe a Mariner playoff game?

Today is house cleaner day. When she gets here, I will head out for errands including flu shot and getting gas. I have my new jacket to finish off and some knitting to do plus the game at 5. Busy busy day - at least retirement busy.

My brother and some folks on Reddit have pulled me off the End Of The Smart Car Ledge. As long as they can keep mine humming, I'm fine. And, the dealership has a huge fleet of Car2Go Smart Cars that they have to be operational to maintain. So I'm going to go worry about something else.

But, not the Keurig. A strong brush to the k-cup holder thingie seems to have fixed the issue. I hope. Stay tuned for an update tomorrow morning.

I got my flu shot but it was not as easy as I had planned. The pharmacy of choice kept me waiting ('sit over there' - as opposed to the far smarter 'shop around and we'll page you') After 10 minutes I went to ask them how long it would be and they asked me for my insurance card and told me to sit some more. After another 10 minutes I asked again and they said their system was down and they couldn't get to my insurance so no shot. 'you can shop if you want and we'll call you.' Er, ah, no. You have now pissed me off. I'm going to your competitor up the street and get the shop and shop there. So I did. They also kept me waiting but I did manage to get de-flued. And their candy corn was on sale so not a total loss.

But the very big news is the new pool. I got an email from the guy who will be the GM of the new Embassy Suites and who is in charge of the gym with the pool. And, he said, officially, that once they open, access to the pool will be via membership!!!! YAHOOOOOO!!!!! Of course it will probably end up be grossly expensive as opposed to my current free. But, still, options. Two blocks away. 6 floors above my favorite restaurant. I can swim off calories and then add them back double with holandaise without even leaving my neighborhood. YEAH! They should be opening at the end of the year or January-sh.

I am fascinated by this Instagram account. I have no idea what the Japanese says but who cares the photographs are enchanting. Here's three of them.

Oh and test fleece jacket was a total success. Color is wrong but everything else is perfect. Easy peasy. 3 hours work, 2 yards fleece - perfect Seattle cardigan/jacket.

Turns out it's an Acura... Sherry's a bright lady who is very good at golf but, apparently, not too car savvy.
