I'd gotten complacent. I hadn't even looked at local COVID numbers recently. Last night I was shocked to see Washington State highlighted on the news map of States With alarming increase in the number of new COVID cases. I dug in and, sure enough, we're headed into trouble again.

I had been so looking forward to meeting [livejournal.com profile] seattlejo for breakfast. She's been out and about and has a husband who goes into work every day but she has not been vaccinated yet (what a bitch to be so young and healthy). And if we had breakfast out and then she got sick... I could not get comfortable with the risk so I canceled. No. I postponed. Hopefully, we won't have to wait until my next birthday.

So no word about a treadmill repair person and no word from Bodycraft on the treadmill situation. I did give it a nice lube job yesterday. The mat is due to arrive today. A week or so ago, I tried walking without the treadmill - in place. And hated it. But, loved not having to put those walking shoes (sneakers/trainers) on. So I've been trying different shoes/sandales/crocs. I even tried barefoot. And the stopping started to happen. Now, what in the hell difference does wearing shoes make? Or changing shoes? NONE. The treadmill should not care. In all of the googling of broken treadmills I did yesterday, there was exactly ZERO mention of shoes. Zero. But, this morning, I put on those damn running/walking shoes and how many times did the treadmill quit? Zero. WTF? So. it's the annoying shoes for the win? Truly a puzzlement.

I'm having a bit of a debate about whether or not to go to Michaels. [livejournal.com profile] ljtourist told me they are now selling fabric but I don't need any fabric. They always have interesting yarns but I don't need any yarn and other stuff but I don't need any other stuff. But, it would be good to get out and my credit card will give me 10% cash back on Michels right now and Michaels is having a big sale... But, I don't need any more stuff. So that's the debate. I think the not going is winning. But, I won't know for sure until about 3ish. I know I won't go anywhere after 3.

I think, maybe, instead, I might just walk up to Two Doors Down and pickup a burger and milkshake for lunch. That's probably a better deal all the way around.

I've gotten such wonderful birthday questions. So much to think about. I think I'll answer one an entry, take them in order and start today.

[livejournal.com profile] jaywil asked:

What is the best thing about living where you do and what is the worst?

I live and love Seattle, WA. I think the best thing is probably the weather - it’s never too cold and it’s too hot maybe 4 days a year. The second best thing is the politics. People here, for the most part, believe as I do and it feels comfortable. Judgments are mostly based on individuals not on gender or sex or religion and it will be a cold day in hell before people will be allowed to carry guns openly. I do hope that there will be a day when they are not allowed to carry them at all or even own them, but…

The worst thing… I live downtown and it is a hike to decent franchise food. No Red Lobster. No Papa Muphy’s. No Sonic. No Popeye’s (although I can get to the nearest one in 15 mins if I plan my trip carefully). I’m ok with no Olive Garden, BTW.
