I was dreaming that I slept way later than usual but realized that it mattered not one whit. and when I woke up it was... way later than usual and did it matter? Heck to the no. Biggie got up at the usual time and spent the hour I was asleep looking at the birds.

Remember when I thought that when the leaves all dropped off, the birds would move on? Totally wrong. At least so far. There are a very few snaggly leaves left but the birds were on the limbs taunting him - cackle, cackle, cackle. To his credit, he was just watching - silently. No trash talking or, em, cat calling.

Also back then I was trying to move him from a dry kibble diet to at least some wet food. Now, I put both into his bowl and he ignores the dry food. I gotta a whole lotta dry kibble in the stock pile. The food bank down the road says they are fine with open bags of pet food. So I guess I'll just take it there.

Today's chore is taking the garbage and the recycling down to the dumpster. Not a minute too soon. The garbage is getting ripe. I think I'm going to make that into twice a week.

I was going to make some ginger cookies today but I ordered a new gadget from Amazon for help measuring gooey stuff and I want to wait until it gets here.

So today will probably be TV and knitting and just enjoying being an old knitting/TV watching old lady.

It's fairly clear that Amazon's not going to bring me my new measuring cup today so I'm going to hold off on the ginger cookies.

But [livejournal.com profile] notdefined suggested I make some Scotish shortbread using this recipe. So I did. I cut the recipe in half. And I made a huge mess and then Biggie wanted to help. It wasn't pretty. I think I made them a hair too fat. And they are not pretty (so no pic) but they don't taste too bad.

In an effort to distract Biggie, I pulled the fish bed from above the fridge and put it on the floor. He was interested... Then I turned it so he could see out the window...

He's has no issues climbing but he does not seem real comfortable getting down from a high perch. A couple of times, he's stood on the edge and called for me to come get him. He can get down, he just isn't that thrilled about it.

Ooops the birds just called and he remembered his tree.

But now he's back in the fish bed. It isn't as disgusting as I thought it would be but it could use a good wash. I do need to move it over a bit and install a light in there so I can see him. But, for now, he's happy.

I have some leftover icing. I think I'll ice a few of the cookies and freeze a few. And put the baking things away and then I need to watch CBS Sunday Morning.
