New habits

I've been waking up at 4 unable to go to sleep and then struggling to stay awake during the day and crashing before 9. I need to fix this. This morning I might try going back to bed after I finish this entry.

But, if I don't fix it today, I'm not going to worry about it. All habits will need to start anew once I get to Issaquah. And if I wake up at 4 there, then maybe that's the way it's supposed to be. It's not like there's a schedule I have to meet.

Today I go back to Issaquah to sign stuff and pay up and meet with the nurse. And, hopefully, either meet with or schedule a meet with the moving person.

I think the way it will work is that we'll set a day. I'll have everything I want to take marked or clustered, and they will pack it up. Then they will move it.

Then I'll hire the hauler guys in to clear out everything else. Then the painters. Then a cleaner person to clean it top to bottom. Then I'll turn it over to Bret.

At least that's how it plays out in my head. Meanwhile Christian needs to get crackin' in the new place with paint and furniture. I may be sitting on the floor for the first few weeks.

I don't need to be in Issaquah until 1 pm so I really do think I'll go back to bed now.

Progress!!

I am getting there. I can see the end and it is very doable. The hall shelves, except the one kitchen section, are done. The living room furniture is emptied with one exception. There is blanket storage under the purple couch and I may just leave it there until I leave or the couch does.

I have two shelving units with those cloth pull out boxes. One, in the bedroom, houses my folding clothes - underwear, shorts, etc. And one, in the living room, houses the stuff by my chair and electronics charging.

It dawned on me last night there there is no need to touch any of this. Come moving time, I'll just pull out the cloth boxes, as is, stack 'em, move 'em and toss 'em when done. VERY handy.

Most of the kitchen will be tossed. Not most but maybe half.

The place looks like a mess but that is because there is nothing left inside drawers or doors.

BUT, I am very close to my goal of being able to have the haulers in, for instance, and tell them, take everything except the bedroom closets and the bed. Once I get there, I'll be done.

I built a public folder and started a document for the new owners. Manuals, Tips. Where the remotes are. Etc.

And a Lasts Things list for me.

Now I need to go take a shower and get dressed and hit the road.

Pam told me that as part of the entry process, I had to pass a test given by a nurse. She made out like it was no big deal and I figured blood pressure, eye scan - stuff along those lines.

Nope. They test your marbles! I had to spell backwards and subtract in my head and remember words and draw a picture. There were about a dozen hoops to hop through that tested all kinds of things pretty quickly and efficiently. I passed with a perfect score but boy did I fell unprepared!

They also need a sign off from my doctor. And, turns out, my doctor is out of town. Until mid October! That was a bit of a dance. I stopped half way home at the Mercer Island Metropolitan Market and found a shady spot in the parking lot and started making calls. I got a video appointment with a covering physician on Monday morning and meanwhile they are faxing him the form. Hopefully, it's a major NoBigDeal.

EDIT: Just got a note from Ben at Timber Ridge that another doctor went ahead and filled out the form as needed so no need for anything else!! Canceled the appointment. whew.

Once they get that signed, the deed will be totally truly done and I can start painting!

I took a lot of photos but didn't have time to do it right so I just snapped shit and popped them all into a Flickr Album.

I got the ok to bring Christian out for a real assessment any time. So better photos and detail soon.

I was thinking on the way home that maybe the smart money would be to move in minimally and live there for a bit before decisions are made. Like built ins or shelving or even furniture. Or even toaster oven. The oven currently in there is lovely and even has an 'air fry' setting! Do I even need my toaster oven? Will a small toaster do the job? heck, I might even use the dishwasher.

I've got some thinking to do. And I need to talk to Christian. But, first there is a baseball game and I have poke for dinner.

Life is sure good and I am sure one lucky lou.

Yes, that washer dryer stack will go and my fancy combo will move into that slot in the half bath.

No, that blue chair and table won't stay.
