From my elbows to my fingertips, I do not get bruises like regular people. The slightest bump brigs me a lovely blood blister. At any given time I'll have four or five on each arm. They don't hurt but they look disgusting. Usually they are small - smaller than a dime. But even small they look gross.

Two times today, my left arm met a solid object with force. Fuck. Now my arm looks like it has the plague. They don't hurt - not even to the touch like a bruise. My doctor says it's years of sun before sunscreen coupled with an aspirin a day. It's just so annoying and it means long sleeves for at least the next two weeks or more. It better stay cool out! Fuck.

Aqua class was just great. It was such fun to see everyone and Alvin - the teacher - was even pretty good. Plus on Tuesdays, I usually have to leave early for a conference call but just before I left for class, the call got postponed to tomorrow.

I was very careful to keep my face dry but even so, my eye felt gritty after I left the pool. Maybe there was something to the doctor's 3 week thing. I think maybe I'll skip a couple more days. I am absolutely going on Friday but I will remember goggles.

On the upside, the work bug just came in and I have about 20 sold hours of work. And... Chef Anita stuffed my freezer with wonderful goodies.

OMG, I've seen those on other people...I always thought they were some kind of birthmark...?

Sun damage plus aspirin? Do you bleed easily? I do, and bruise easily too, but never to that extent.

At least they don't hurt!

Would it be safe to wrap your forearm loosely in an Ace bandage so that you can stay cool?

Not that it will cheer you (much?) but as a result of your explanation of these bruises, your readers will no longer assume that people with similar marks have the plague.

You might be able to cover it with a mineral make up. I've seen them cover up port wine stain birthmarks with it and it doesn't look like you have make up on your skin.

The first one I saw was Bare Minerals. Their marketing guy used to live here in SF with his boyfriend. Both were a feast for hungry eyes. :)

Because I know you aren't the easily offended type...yep, I think of those blood blister bruise things as old people bruises. Probably because my grandmother always got them, from a combination of thin/bad skin and medications. They are scary gross to look at, for sure. Glad they don't hurt though.

Hmmm, maybe just being around the chlorinated air affected your eye.

Ouch! My dad gets those; he's on Coumadin(sp?) so it happens often. Hope they heal soon; looks like you got a lot of good suggestions =)

I had a bruise from an IV that lasted for weeks; that sucker hurt like hell.

Wow, they look really impressive. Hope you can cover them up and still stay cool.

My bruises are not that impressive but I usually have some on my arms. It cam be as simple as carrying too heavy grocery bags on my arms and scrunching up the skin.

Ugh...that looks painful but I know it isn't.

Sometimes, when they go to take blood, they have a hard time finding my vein and I get that. Takes so long to go away.

Interesting tidbit about the blood bruises. I never knew the aspirin as well as the lack of childhood sunscreen contributed. I'll have to file that in the back part of my brain for when it happens to me. I don't take an aspirin a day but I sure as hell know my parents never used sunscreen on me when we were little. Putting food on our table was way more important.
