Lock tricks

They found the truck in the hospital park and got it back to the house where they met the locksmith. Sam had a set of keys and Steve did, too. But, Sam's keys had a note "don't use the deadbolt". Steve's keys had no such note.Ooops. Getting into the truck's bed was also a thing.

Happily, they couldn't figure out how to facetime me so that bullet was dodged. They also couldn't get the computer turned on.

But the two of them got to meet each other and go over everything together and get ideas for a plan. So forward...

And I got to pop out for one quick errand. So all is good.

EDIT: He just called again to tell me they were done and both agreed on a preliminary plan. They found one last gun in the truck so Sam took it with him. I told them I wanted to make sure there were no guns in the house (visions of some kid breaking in and shooting themselves or others). He did tell me that while they were trying to break in this morning, a neighbor came over to check on them which was great news. Bill was not neighborly but she said he and her son did sometimes "talk trucks". I'm glad to hear someone has a nosy eye out. Also having the truck in the drive will help. Next week, dumpster, junk removal, carpet removal, real estate sales preliminaries.

A couple of readers have mentioned starting in the middle and getting confused. Very understandable. I'm not generally a fan of tagging but I've given over to it. And here's where the journey starts.

Nosy neighbors are totally a southern/small town thing. It can be a good thing. My mom's house was broke into a couple of times after her death before it sold. They took the heaters and air conditioners from the windows.

I guess I was one of those readers who took a weekend break from dw/lj (I was at a 50th college reunion) - and missed the beginning of this saga. Thank you for taking me to the beginning.

I'm really sorry for your loss. I also get the impression that he died the way he lived - on his own terms. And, oddly that is comforting, though sad that he's gone. I'm glad he has someone like SteveTheLawyer.
