Sunday bits

It strikes me as odd that the Superbowl is so late in the day. I thought it was in the afternoons on the east coast.  Clearly I have not been paying attention.  I have only been watching the front door TV channel for an hour this morning and, already, two giant TV's have come to visit/live.  I would NOT like to be an installer of those things this past week.  They will probably all fall into a coma at kick off - if they live that long.

Still playing the DS Lite game only now, I'm going to buy the first black one that comes up for sale  Circuit City had one this morning but I wasn't fast enough.

Today is my friend, Kenny Lu's birthday.  I rarely see him any more but he is on IM so I sent him a little HBD today.  I could tell even over the air that it tickled him to bits that I remembered.  Fun.

The holes in my new salt shaker were just a hair too small for my salt.  So I got out the 1/4th drill that Daddy bought me when I graduated from college and drilled bigger ones.  The cap is rubber so it turned out to be easy peasy.  The hardest part was finding a block of wood to use as a base.  The holes are now fine and dandy.  And I feel very accomplished.

I'm still fighting the AVG reboot bug.  Every other day.  This morning I uninstalled following their instructions to the letter and then wiped out all traces and then reisntalled.  Here's hoping.  We won't know until Tuesday, I'm guessing.

I watched the first of the two DVD's of the first season of Extras.  It was mildly amusing.  I think I'm over Ricky Gervais.  I remember the first time I ever saw him was on Parkinson - I could barely understand him and kept having to rewind but I thought he was funny.  Now I think he's kind of a one trick pony.  It's a good trick but I've seen it.  I'm ready to move on.  I do miss Parkinson since he moved to ITV.  We don't get any of that programming.

On the plus side of BBC America, they are going to start showing Creature Comforts again starting tomorrow!  I've only seen about 3 of them so this will be a treat.

And, that's pretty much all the bits I got for now.

Thanks to [livejournal.com profile] melodysk for letting me know about the Flickr refunds.  It took a bit of doing but I finally found the cheesy way they are doing it.  I sent my request.  I'm wondering if I'll see the refund.  Meanwhile I'm using FlickrDown to get all the photos I want to keep into Picasa.  I'm going to try and leave those that I have linked to LJ entries in Flickr in the free account that is left.

And I just got a note from the Microsoft beta program that they will be sending me my copy of Vista. I had totally forgotten about that.  I feel kind of guilty because I never did install the beta.  I chickened out.  But, if they actually send me a free Vista, I'll probably give it a go on the LifeBook.

I'm probably not going to install it on this desktop.  I'm getting my brother to build me a new desktop that will have Vista on it.  My work computer will likely remain Visa free for a while.  Since nearly all of my work is totally dependent on my ability to successfully access the corporate network and use all of the network tools, I am very hesitant to do anything that might jeopardize that until I have to.

Nice weekend.  This one.  I watched The Good Girl.  It's one of those that isn't bad enough to turn off so I just keep it running and pretty soon, I'm just sucked in and when it's done, I think 'hmmm that was a good little movie!'  One of my LJ friends mentioned it last weekend.  I forget who... so whoever it was... thanks!
