another day, another reboot request

Yes, the battle with this computer and AVG continues.  I sent off the log again this morning.  I may try to uninstall it (again) and, if successful, give Avast a go.  I might well have my new computer by next week and I haven't decided what do to about anti-virus on it. 

I had a bunch of little mini fire drills this morning caused by this weekend's outage.  All under control now.

I lied to my CPA.  Not a huge lie and, likely one that will come back to haunt me.  And I know I should fix it but I also know I'm not going to.  Who's keeping that big ol' list of Susan Dennis Character Flaws?  I need to make an add.

The new monitor should arrive today.

I think it's a good day for General Tso's Chicken.  Wonder if the deli is open?  Guess we'll see about 11:45 ish.

My neighbors across the hall got divorce about 10 years ago.  This morning, when I went to take the CPA the new stuff - about 9:15 - he came out of what is now her unit. (The word on the street - well, Sherry and Lee, actually - is that they split cause he wanted to get into S&M and she didn't like the idea.) He's sporting a (not temporary looking) eye patch and his mouth is kind of half slacked like he had a stroke.  We chatted.  I didn't ask.  He's a strange dude.  He used to own a restaurant here in town and then managed several.  This morning he had on a QFC (grocery store chain) vest with a label that said Wine Expert.  

I am a gossip monger.

Oh and thanks to countess_shell and melodysk, I have learned that Hugh has discretely not dragged my name into his split with that trashy bitch.  What a guy.

I'm saved from myself

So the woman doing my tax return in my CPA's office called me this morning and said she didn't have some form but if the account was an IRA she didn't need it and her tone just pissed me off so I told her it was an IRA.  I had not clue.  After I hung up, I looked it up and it isn't.  I didn't call her back.  I knew I should and I didn't.

Just now the head guy - who is really just the nicest guy ever - called me to say that he thought I may have misunderstood her (she had a really thick accent) and asked me virtually the same thing.  I came clean.  He's so nice, I had to.  I asked him what the damage was looking like and he said he doesn't know yet but it looks like I may have over paid!  I'm sure he's not right and that I will owe something but it's nice to know that it might not be a small fortune. 

I have a lull in the work action so I think I'll do a system restore and then see what I can do about this stupid anti virus thing.

Ooops ... the monitor just arrived.  Nice.  Ohhhh it swivels to vertical very easily.  That might be handy.  It looks nice next to this one.  I think it's going to work out fine.
