There are clouds so no frying sun. That, alone, is a good enough start to any week.

And, after yesterday's total obsession with the purchase of a Smart Car, [livejournal.com profile] fj fixed it all with one link. I had never heard of the Scion iQ. It is longer than the Smart Car and it does not come in green but... the dealership is closer to me than the Smart Car one and Scions have the reputation of just being problem free... plus it seems to share the same price point so I must consider it. I still think the Smart Car is my choice but I have to consider the Scion, I think.

I have to test drive both - I have to see if I can get my ample ass into them and that they are easy to get in and out of and they can do steep hills and I can see to drive and backup.

The iQ isn't available here until October 1 so my jets need to cool til then. It's the perfect excuse to stop the madness and think about it all for a while. Whew.

And the other Whew so far today is that the charge for my head surgery from last May finally hit my Discover card. I got yet another bill for it on Saturday but i think we've finally wrapped it up. I am sure glad I don't have issues that require lots of doctor/hospital/lab stuff. The billing issues would drive me nuts.

Ok, time to get a little more work done before I hit the gym.

28.5 minutes... when I cheat, I like to note it. I'm not a Catholic but still maybe there's a gym priest who will give me absolution if I confess.

2.9 for treadmill speed and used the rolling elevation.

It was good and I am sweaty.

A couple of weeks ago, I decided that my bathmat was too ugly and too icky and needed to be tossed so I did. And the next time I got in the shower, I nearly broke my neck.

So to the interwebs for the solution!! It had to look not tacky but actually be tacky.

Fail. So I physically went to a store. Shocking. I went to Bed, Bath and Beyond and found several options none of which were any better than I had just tossed out. Except one looked promising and was priced low enough to give it a shot.

The label said Aqua Touch cushioned bath mat but if you follow the URL on the label (http://www.ginsey.com) you find that it is actually Rubbermaid (http://www.rubbermaid.com/Category/Pages/ProductDetail.aspx?Prod_ID=RP091986)

And it's great. It feels good on the feet and solid and it looks nice (it actually nearly disappears from view in my white bathtub).

Oh and my brother, completely unsolicited, even mentioned that it was a good find.

I'm saving all these details so that if/when I need to replace it, I'll know where to start.

Betty - my long haired cat - is just a mess of mats. About once a year - sometimes she skips a year - she gets mats. Usually I can just cut them out but this year, I can't get ahead of them and they are giving her hairballs which isn't fun for either of us.

There is one cat groomer in a town north of here but finally today I kept googling and yelping until I found one. I called. Hopefully they are busy grooming and that's the only reason they didn't answer. I left a message. I hope I can take her in to get her scraped down so we can start again.

---

As part of my father's estate, each of my sister's three children get a check every year from the time they are 18 until the time they are 22. It comes out to about $5K. I inherited the responsibility. I have the money in a special account and my financial adviser sends out the checks every August. I noticed the other day when I was checking Mint that he shorted the one who is that age range this year - by about $800 so I called.

Tony, his assistant explained how it happened after he looked into it and it's easy to understand but I explained that I need it fixed asap cause I do no want to enter into another money conversation with my sister. I told her that if she came whining to me, I was sending her right to him. I wouldn't do that of course, because no one deserves that kind of torture but, it made the point.

I'm sure glad I caught it.

Ann continues to be totally frazzled on her own. She's driving me a little crazy. She has some very strong racial prejudices which have until recently only come out once in awhile but now it seems it's all the time and it makes me nuts. I'd like to help her but I don't want to hear how Ron's recuperation place will make her drive through 'where all the black people live'. Nor do I want to hear that she hopes the cabulance driver isn't a towelhead like the regular cab drivers.

I try to lightly allow as how she should be ashamed for even thinking that kind of thing much less saying it out loud but it goes right over her head. Plus, she's so beside herself with stress she can't hear anything anyway.

It's a problem for which I have no solution. I just hope he gets well and fast.

I've been comparing the Scion iQ and the Smart Car and the Smart Car is winning - looks wise - which is pretty much my top criteria. I want it short and adorable. And the Smart Car is that. I think the iQ will be my maybe option. If neither of those work out, then I'm keeping my Escort. After all, it does have a full tank of gas.
