I took all the new brand pages I was interested in and created a circle just for them. This morning, I so enjoyed running down the stream of that new circle. Many are just getting their feet warm but I see a new morning routine and I'm delighted. (But I'm not sold on that reheat mashed potato tip, +Lifehacker... I'll try it, but I'm not sold, jes sayin')

Contrary to what the pharmacist warned, I had zero problems going to sleep last night. Conked out until the alarm went off. I don't even remember coughing once. But, then, when I got up to pee, it started and I had a fit that lasted a good 30 minutes. I finally got it to stop long enough to use the inhaler.

It's been about 45 minutes now and I can breathe without coughing so far so, hopefully, it was a one time today situation. That's what I'm counting on.

My insurance requires a $35 co-pay for each office visit. I never thought about it before mainly because I've never had a problem that required multiple visits before but $35 each time along with my share of the medications is making this a pricey little enterprise. I think they should give you an illness discount. $35 for the first visit but if you are going back for the same thing, you should get a discount. I think.

When I had those cysts removed from my head they only charged me the copay for the first visit and not for the one to get them removed or the one to get the stitches removed. It was a package. I think they should have a pneumonia package.

On the other hand, I'm grateful I can afford it and glad I can at least foist some of the cost onto the insurance and grateful to have the insurance. But, mostly grateful that at the age of 62, I'm just now having to find this shit out. I've had a really nice six decade pretty nearly free ride, I'd say.

Survey Season... it seems that every single website I visit these days is interrupting me with a request to fill out their survey after I've finished at their website. There has to be a better way. I appreciate their wanting my opinion but don't give me an annoying popup.
A couple of times, on sites I really care about, I have actually agreed. Not once has the survey been a good one, or an interesting one, or one that asked relevant questions. I could write up the results they will get without seeing the first actual answer.
Total and Annoying Waste of My Time and Yours.

For the past couple of years I've worked on a large section of a big website. I'll call it section Z (so I don't have to lock this entry down). That work kind of dwindled to nothing and I picked up a new project - section H.

A couple of weeks ago section Z came back with a request for a couple of weeks' worth of work. 2-5 weeks actually. Starting yesterday. I spent a day swapping emails and explaining and promising that Section H would still get first dibs on my time and I would work extra hours to make sure that everything got done, yadda yadda, everyone happy.

Then last week we got a note that the kickoff meeting for the work that was supposed to start yesterday was today. We just had that meeting and now it appears that the work will not start at all before the 16th or 17th and maybe not even then.

So... all that extra work and those extra hours - just melted away to nothing.

As it turns out, I'm perfectly fine either way. And, I now see the scope of the work and it's no big deal. Easy to do and rather enjoyable, actually. So if/when it hits, it will be fine and dandy.

So all the work I expected to have to do this week is now poof - gone and replaced by ... well ... not much, actually!

I worried about going to swim class. I worried I wouldn't be able to breathe. A bigger worry was what I sound like - I know some people are really afraid of coughing people. I'm not contagious at all but they don't know that. I'm only moderately successful at trying not to cough.

I figured I'd go early and if horrible, I'd quit. And I'd take it easy.

At first it was a little bad. It was hard to breathe without coughing once I started moving in the pool but it got better. I swear breathing in all that moist air is good for what ails me. Class was not bad at all. No one seemed offended by my coughing and as class went on, the coughing really stopped. I noticed on the way home that I could actually take a deep breath successfully.

I keep trying to repeat the puff test that I failed yesterday. It's my monitor. You take a deep breath and then you blow out as fast and as quickly as you can. Yesterday, it was all I could to to get a good breath without coughing. After the pool, on the way home, I was the puff master! No coughing.

Now - 2 hours later - it's not quite as good but not bad either. I'm getting better. I am. And I do love swimming.
